Sound Control for HVAC Systems

Aero Dyne Turning Vanes are engineered for sound control performance. The precise airfoil contour reduces generated sound power to the lowest attainable levels. They help improve HVAC  performance and room noise compliance, making them ideal for sensitive environments.

HVAC engineers and designers rely on our H-E-P Vanes when building hospitals, educational facilities , and performance art centers.

Laboratory test data (Report no. 48037 dated 9/5/87) proves Aero Dyne H-E-P Turning Vanes & Rail reduce sound power levels when compared to standard symmetrical vanes, single-thickness vanes, or vanes with different center spacing.

Lower sound power levels will result in lower sound pressure levels (dBA) for comparable installations.

Engineered for Performance

Aero Dyne Turning Vanes direct airflow quietly with their precise airfoil design engineered using a 17-point roll forming process. Unlike standard vanes, our airfoil vanes are constructed for consistent, year after year performance giving them unparalleled structural integrity.

They adapt perfectly to all duct sizes, eliminating the need for two different vane sizes in the system. H-E-P Turning Vane and Rail assemblies will not break, blow out, or fail.  Vane and rail sold by competitors can’t say the same because:

  • Single wall vanes need every sixth vane welded to the runner or need reinforcements attached for ducts running over 1000 fpm
  • Standard double wall vanes lack positive fastening of the blades to the runner, requiring a tack weld at each end, and leaving the possibility of rattling or detaching

The Aero Dyne H-E-P Design Difference

The H-E-P Vane and Rail system consists of three essential components: the Airfoil Blade, Side Rail, and Fasteners. Performance may be compromised if assemblies are made without genuine Aero Dyne Side Rails.

  • 3″ Radius Airfoil Blade – Engineered using a 17-point roll-forming process from one-piece 27GA HD Prime Carbon Galvanized Steel.
  • Side Rail – Constructed from 24GA HD Galvanized Steel, with assembly slots precisely spaced at 2.4 inches for optimal performance.
  • Fasteners – Ring Shank-style screws fasten into continuous channels inside the blade, ensuring rigid, rattle-proof assemblies without the need for reinforcing rods.

For more than 50 years, Aero Dyne Vane and  Aero Dyne Rail have been specified exclusively in hundreds of highly notable projects. One of the first securing Aero Dyne as the “Cadillac” of turning vanes was Benaroya Hall, home of the Seattle Symphony, Seattle’s first facility designed exclusively for symphonic music performances.

Aero Dyne H-E-P Vanes and Aero Dyne Rail were specified by the Mechanical Design Team to reduce generated sound power levels, contributing to the overall acoustical performance of the building.

Aero Dyne continues to be an important part of any project where HVAC noise reduction and airflow performance is a priority.
